Why I Love Volleyball

Volleyball is a team sport played by six people and your objective is to make the ball hit the ground on the other side of the net before the other team can hit it back to you. Each person has a specific role in the court and whatever they do affects the entire team. First there is the Setter whose job is to set the ball to a teammate to spike it down or toss it over the net. Then there is the Outside Hitter who is known as the lead attacker when it comes to offense. Then there is the Opposite Hitter, Defensive Specialist, Middle-Blocker and the Libero which wears a different color jersey because he/she can only play defense. The reason I got into the sport was because in middle school P.E. we were forced to play the sport one day in order to get a grade and I just loved to play it and since then I would sometimes toss the ball to myself and practice at home but then as time went by I just stopped playing. Then one day a friend mentioned a T.V. show called Haikyuu which is about a high school volleyball team and he told me I would like it so I one day watched it and fell in love with the show and watched all three seasons there were in under a month, and then not even a week after I saw that I got an email from the school that boys volleyball tryouts were about to happen so I then trained for a week until tryouts happened and I’m going to be honest I definitely wasn’t at my best but it was still so much fun to play and then after tryouts ended the coach said he needed to talk to me and I was a little worried going up to him but then he told me that I could be on the varsity team and I got so excited so I went home happy as ever and from that point on we have had 4 practices so far and I am already starting to make new friends and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
