There’s still time to apply! If you missed the regular application deadline (November 30th) then you’re in luck! Nine of the California State Universities have decided to continue accepting applications until December 15th as a result of receiving fewer applications than expected.  These campuses include: CSU East Bay, CSU Monterey Bay, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Channel Islands, CSU Dominguez Hills, CSU Maritime, San Francisco State University, Sonoma State University, and Humboldt State University.

This is a great opportunity to take advantage of; however, I believe that the decision was odd and possibly raises other concerns. Did the Cal States lose applicants to the UC’s? If so, does this mean that the UC campuses’ acceptance rates will go down because the application pool was larger? Did they not receive the normal amount of out-of-state applicants? Was there a rise of applications for private universities? Various theories have been tossed around, as the cause of the lack of applicants remains unknown.
