Why Are Cities Near Coasts?
If you observe patterns in the most populated and major cities of the world, you will find that they are near coastlines. The reason for this is for freshwater. Humans tend to settle where water is because it is the most strategic area to settle. You have access to water which can act as a barrier and port for an extra transport option.
