Why Is Social Media Bad For You?

Time spent on social media can lead to cyberbullying, social anxiety, depression, and exposure to content that is not age appropriate. Social Media is addicting. When you’re playing a game or accomplishing a task, you seek to do it as well as you can. Social media portrays a false sense of reality that detriments the mental health of heavy users. It has a record-breaking influence on the world, and is glamorized by users and influencers but has negative effects on mental health that can even turn fatal. It makes you more negative. For many, social media is an outlet for all of their stresses, frustrations and heartbreaks, or a place to share their thoughts and feelings on the tragedies of the world. And while it may make them feel better, it certainly doesn’t relieve those who are reading it. When life without social media is done right, you become more focused on what’s important in life and less worried about the things that don’t matter. In life, offline time slows down a little and forces our minds to take a break from all of the digital noise we’re constantly bombarded with online.
