History of Books

The first ever books were the papyrus scrolls of Ancient Egypt. These scrolls were made using papyrus plants and were some of the first ever written texts. Papyrus scrolls eventually evolved into the codex format, a more familiar form of the book that contains pages. The modern book was invented alongside the creation of the printing press, which allowed for books to be copied and printed. Finally, the Industrial Revolution led us to our modern day books. Books take many shapes and forms, with new books, such as ebooks appearing in modern times.
