The United States should be more strict in finding people who breed animals and sell them for their own benefit. The world does not need more pets when 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized annually in the U.S. It is unfair to bring more animals in to the world if homes are not available for them. Imagine being born, living on the streets, then living in a cage for most of your life, and eventually killed without ever receiving any sort of love or acceptance. These poor, innocent animals do not deserve such a horrible life. Everyone needs to get their pets neutered or spayed to keep shelters from euthanizing animals that do not get adopted. Also, puppy mills breed over half a million puppies per year while other dogs live their entire lives in a cage and are murdered if no one wants them. In my opinion, these puppy mills need to be eradicated or at least produce fewer animals so that fewer end up in shelters.
