Last week, Elsinore High School held the first ever co-ed soccer tournament. Though this was no average tournament in where the best players of the school go and thrash against each other, it was almost the complete opposite. Boys varsity were the coaches of some of the teams, and the players on each respective team were students from Elsinore High School. The turnout of students was enormous and it was easy to recognize the joy each player had on their face when they were in a game. Coming from experience, it was loads of fun, and I enjoyed every bit of it since I was able to create more lasting memories before high school ends. Though my team did not win the championship, we were able to compete in the championship with the help of the skilled players and the coaches–Refugio Morales and Brent Leyva. The soccer games were held two days in a row and it was up to the teams if they wanted to practice to secure their win. It was easy to recognize the amount of thought and passion that was put into the soccer tournament, and I am glad they did, or else it would not have been memorable. It was a lot of fun and I hope that Elsinore continues to hold that tournament every year.
