The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Haiti, Honduras, and Cuba were all affected by a 7.7 earthquake on January 28, 2020 at 11:10 AM. The Cayman Islands were left with sinkholes and buildings were swayed from Jamaica to even downtown Miami. If you thought it could not get worse, there’s more. An aftershock with a magnitude of 6.1 followed the earlier earthquake. Because of this, NBC News has posted on Twitter that tsunami waves reaching from 1 to 3 feet above tide level can happen in Belize, Cuba, Honduras, Mexico, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica. Although many are saying that the tsunami is too small to reach far inland, smaller tsunamis have killed people in the ocean so they are suggesting to stay away from the coast.
