Dismantling Gentrification in NYC

The people in New York have started to fight back against the gentrification of their neighborhoods. This all started a couple of months back when police were making unlawful arrests against people of color. Not only are tensions high with police, but people of New York are also protesting against the high prices of the transit systems. They argue that the high prices are an attack on the poorer neighborhoods, which already receive little attention from the government as well as the state. The ongoing problem has led people to take action into their own hands. They have pushed the agenda to not pay for the trains by jumping terminals, holding the door open from one way entrances, putting superglue over the pass readers, and riddling the transit system with signs and phrases for the protests. As of now there hasn’t been any statement by the state or city mayors.
