Feminine Hygiene Tax

Senator Lynda Wilson in Washington state has been trying to pass a bill since 2015 to ban the tax on all menstrual products, or as it’s also known, as the Pink tax or the Tampon tax. She’s been fighting for the bill to pass for years, arguing that these products are a necessity. Not only is she fighting for a right but she’s giving women a voice. Recently the bill has gone farther than it has before, and if passed can cost Washington $4.5 million in lost tax revenue. This money is spent exclusively by women of child bearing age. Wilson still argues with Washington having one of the highest sales tax rates in the country, but there are ways to accommodate. As of now the bill is still being processed, but if passed could help and assist thousands of women.
