If you’re into underground music, you may have heard of the popular hip-hop duo ‘$uicideboy$’. The duo consists of members Ruby da Cherry (Aristos Petrou) and $lick $loth (Scott Arceneaux Jr.). $uicideboy$ formed in 2014, in New Orleans, Louisiana. They started out only releasing music on Soundcloud, but the boys quickly started gaining fame from that point on. They’re known for songs like ‘Paris’, ‘$outh $ide $uicide’, and ‘2nd Hand’. Many parents get concerned when they realize their children are listening to this type of music, especially when the artist has such a controversial name. That’s why people ask, “What is so interesting about $uicideboy$? Why do people listen to this?” Well, many fans seem to be able to connect with them, and relate to what they’re rapping about. It has also been said that it helps teenagers forge an identity. For $lick though, it’s really about making sure their fans know they aren’t alone, and “being able to find belonging in something bigger than oneself.”
