Don’t Do It

Don't Do It

The number of suicides in these past years have increased greatly and it has become the tenth leading cause of death just in the United States. In 2018 the estimated number of American suicides was 48,344 and the amount of suicide attempts was 1,400,00. These numbers have only increased as the years have gone by. These suicides are caused by bullying, stress and other causes in the world that have made people kill themselves.

Many of these suicide victims have been people of my age and sometimes even younger. If you or a loved one are having suicidal thoughts please call the suicide prevention hotline, it can be found on the back or your student ID card or just search it up online and you will immediately be connected to a 24 hour operator. Please don’t do it! Yes, your friends and family will miss you, yes, your bully will make a sappy post on how much of an amazing person you are and yes, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem but that temporary problem will pass and things will get better so please keep living.

Give yourself a reason and purpose to keep going. Keep going until you finish your shampoo and conditioner at the same time, keep going until Dr. Who is finally canceled, keep going until you learn that new language, keep going, just keep going. You can make it to the end and when you do you’ll realize that everything you’ve been through has just been an obstacle in your way to bring you down but you overcame it and now you can live happily knowing you are enough.
