Why Stealing Is Wrong

And why it’s not

Stealing and shoplifting is wrong on many levels but there are few occasions that people have reason to steal.

Should you ever need to steal, it should be within reason, obtainable, and fair to those who would also need the thing you stole. We’ve all done it at some point, to pickpocket a little pin, or accidentally forgetting to scan an item at self-checkout. Regardless, please be aware that sometimes it has consequences; however, should you want to steal, ask yourself if it’s really worth it. Foods and hygiene products are without saying, but a video game? A pin? A toy? Needs and wants are on different spectrums.

You want a toy, but you don’t need it. You need vegetables, but you don’t want them. When you need something, it’s a necessity, regardless of your situation, you need to have it. If you want it, you need to be stable and in the right headspace before purchasing it. If a want, like a chair or flashlight, pillow or blanket, becomes a part of your life or plays a role in how you function to produce your needs, then it’s not a faulty purchase.

Stealing these wants isn’t acceptable, it’s a fine and ticket to county jail. News and media portrays women and the poor to be the ones with most misdemeanors under their belts. Women in need require baby formula, hygiene products, diapers, clothing– some stores are understanding, others jump at the chance to run someone for their money and dignity. The poor aren’t normally caught to be shoplifting, merely to sit in silence and ask for money or help, i.e with food, their pets, a fresh set of clothes, or even a drink.

When you decide to steal a want, say your friend’s Playstation or worse case scenario, a laptop or vehicle, you’re stealing from someone who worked for the item you want to steal. You’re willingly choosing to inconvenience the victim to benefit yourself and it’s disgusting. While you ‘worked’ to steal, the victim will have to work twice if not three times as hard to make up for the setback you placed them in. Should you steal from a bad person, then that is acceptable, because those who do wrong earn justice, and that is when they’re put in an unfortunate situation.

Why am I writing about this, you may ask? I lost my son Rodney, he is a stretchy caterpillar with a slightly ripped butt, green, and long. About 26 soft rubber balls attached to his head and only has two dot eyeballs! If you find him please return him to Mrs.Coogan so I can bring him home.

Chrys out and I’ll see you all next week on Tiger Times! /\__/\
