Thanksgiving is a national holiday widely forgotten about because of the two other massive holidays it’s in between, Halloween and Christmas. But for me and my family, we celebrated Thanksgiving more than Christmas. We think Thanksgiving is more important as we see it as a time where we can look back as we eat this gifted meal and be grateful for those who helped us and our family and friends around us. But how did Thanksgiving come to be? Well, it started with the peace between the pilgrims of the Mayflower and the Native American tribe, the Wampanoags. The Wampanoags had another tribe that would kidnap and kill the Wampanoags, so they asked the pilgrims for help, and the pilgrims agreed due to the previous help the Wampanoags gave them, so the pilgrims brought there muskets and steel balls to help the Wampanoags kill the rival tribe. Afterwards, they had a massive feast to show the appreciation and gratefulness from both parties, and this event in history is a staple moment for America, forever ingrained in the American people. Although Thanksgiving is dying out in the American people, I see it to look back on life and remember to thank and appreciate all the people in your life and those who helped you, that and pumpkin pie is really good.
