Since the COVID-19 pandemic, society seems to have gone back to normal. Students no longer have classes online, people don’t have to wear masks when going outside, and most of America is vaccinated against the virus. Although there have not been many signs of a global pandemic coming back, more and more signs of a disease called monkeypox (mpox) have been appearing around the world. Mpox is an infectious viral disease that causes harsh rashes that form into blisters and pimples. The NYT stated that the mpox disease is not as lethal as the COVID-19 virus, but it is still a concern and as of August 15th of this year, California has 6,350 cases of mpox.
