You might be familiar with the big white building that is located in the corner of Spring Street and West Graham Avenue in Lake Elsinore. According to an online article, the Victorian-style building was originally the Crescent Bath House built in 1887 by Franklin Heald. The 2-story bathhouse was built three years after Elsinore officially became a city. The bathhouse had upstairs bedrooms, drinkable spring water, parlors, ten bathrooms with porcelain tile bathtubs, therapy rooms for massages, and a courtyard pool. In 1945, the bathhouse was converted into a rooming house. The house was turned into an interior design business in 1949 and became an antique shop in 1963. Now, the building is currently a private residence. Since the house is no longer a bathhouse, it was eventually named the Chimes Building because of the popularity of wind chimes in that time period.
According to www.weirdca.com, there are two kid ghosts along with other spirits that actively haunt the building. In 1939, the mayor’s son attempted to sneak into the place by climbing the fence but died by drowning in the pool. The pool is now replaced with concrete. In 1898, an 8-year-old female got run over by a horse and carriage. She was taken to a doctor’s office in the building but died on the table. She reveals her presence by moving her doll to different places in the building. As mentioned by the daughter of Lory and Wilma Watts who were the owners of the house in 1972 through 2001, an unidentified man supposedly drowned in the mineral bath after experiencing a seizure in 1892. These ghosts contribute to the footsteps, voices, and cries heard by people in the building. From the information I have given you about the house, do you think you would be able to live along many other ghosts that wander the halls of your home?
