Celebrating birthdays is a fairly recent event us as people take part in. It’s an event for someone’s birth, a celebration with cake, food, games, and presents. A mini Christmas if you will, but with one name in the gift list.
The cause for celebrating someone’s birthday is to show appreciation and gratitude for their existence. To come together and say, “Hey, I’m glad you were born today, all those years ago.”
Being lucky and blessed enough to come full circle and come together with all those people who are glad you’re here is great. Glad you’re alive, well, and present. Being celebrated on a day dedicated to you in your group of loved ones feels so wonderful, to be the center of attention and receive the love you were afraid wasn’t for you.
Receiving gifts is a plus, but the best part of celebrating a birthday is simply being told, “I’m glad you were born.” And being invited to the home or party of the birthday person, a sign that, “I’m glad you appreciate me being here.”
Happy birthday, if it’s your birthday.
I’m glad you’re here.
