According to ABC7 news, eight Orange County firefighters were injured, with six still hospitalized and the other two released after a rollover crash on the 241 freeway near Tomato Springs Toll Plaza in Irvine.
On a Thursday night, returning from their 12-hour shift on the front lines of the severe Airport fire, there was a vehicle in front of them that had swerved to avoid a ladder on the road, making the truck swerve too to also avoid it. This caused them to crash into a guardrail on the right side and made them overturn multiple times which led them to tip over and crash.
Seven were transported by the ambulance while the other was taken on a helicopter to other hospitals located in Orange County.
The six that remain hospitalized will be okay but will also be in a “quite critical” condition according to one of the doctors. “They’re in a tough shape right now… Pray for our firefighters,” The fire chief said to the reporter.
