The trailer for A Minecraft Movie was released 2 weeks ago by Warner Bros. Pictures. The trailer greatly disappointed fans as they expected a more accurate film adaptation of the game, along with the overuse of CGI and the seemingly predictable plot line. The excessive amount of CGI made fans feel like the movie failed to capture Minecraft’s blocky, open-world aesthetic. Additionally, the focus on casting big-name actors seems to have alienated the core fanbase, who were hoping for something more in tune with Minecraft’s playful and imaginative spirit, such as the actors voicing their animated characters rather than being placed in the completely CGI environment.
