On Monday, September 9th, the Airport Fire started. Students were able to smell the smoke during the day at school. The next day, all LEUSD schools were closed for the rest of the week due to the poor air quality. Many homes and families had to be evacuated during this time. The fire was contained on Friday, September 13th. About 23,519 acres were burned. All LEUSD schools were opened back up on Monday, September 16th.
