Only a couple days ago, Valorant players Tenz and Sacy officially resigned from Sentinels, a professional esports team. The players filling their spots on the team were just announced: Curry and Reduxx. While this current roster isn’t set in stone yet, they played their first game last Sunday, and it’s certainly a new look at the new state of Sentinels going forward without two of their most iconic players.
We got to see this new team composition in action when Sentinels went against the team Cloud 9 in a Redbull Home Ground game. Curry actually used to play for Cloud 9 in 2022, and even played a handful of matches in Valorant Champions Tour (VCT). Additionally, Reduxx has been active in the professional Valorant scene since 2021 as a player for Oxygen Esports; he’s placed 1st in several tournaments such as NSG Summer Championship, Evil Invitational, and even placed 1st in the Valorant Challengers 2024 North America Mid-Season Cup.
However, despite the extensive experience both players have playing in professional esports leagues, they did end up losing their first game against Cloud 9 at the Redbull Home Ground on Sunday, September 30th, 2024. Regarding their stats, Reduxx’s performance was alright; he maintained a positive kill ratio, or, he killed the enemy players more often than they killed him, against three out of five players on the enemy team. However, Curry maintained a positive kill ratio for none of the players on the enemy team. Whether or not this could have been the determining factor as to why Sentinels lost, it made for a very entertaining game to watch, and it makes me and many other avid Sentinels fans excited for how the team is going to adapt to the new players they get in the future.
