On Wednesday, October 10th, 2024, Sentinels’ newest roster played against an unofficial team of Valorant’s most iconic streamers in a showmatch game. This kind of scrimmage was just for fun, and for many avid Sentinels fans, it was a demonstration of how the team’s new team composition would fare against an amalgamation of some of the most skilled players in the game; some of these players included retired Sentinels player and Valorant Champions 2024: Masters Madrid winner Tyson Van Ngo “Tenz,” Valorant Champions 2023: Masters Tokyo winner Max Mazanov “Demon1,”, and of course the iconic streamer Tarik himself.
With players like that, I personally anticipated Team Tarik winning Wednesday’s scrimmage. However, the new Sentinels team composition, even with two brand new player signings, unexpectedly won with a score of 3-0. The players added just this week with permanent contracts were Sean Christian Bezarra “Bang” and Marshall Massy “N4ARRATE”. Every single player on Sentinels had a positive kill to death ratio.
As someone who is very passionate about keeping up with all of Sentinels’ games, seeing them win against so many stacked players really restored my faith in their ability to succeed, especially after the Red Bull Home Grounds game they had earlier this month. Although this showmatch was nothing serious, I feel like it solidified my belief that new players means new potential, and Sentinels as a team has more than plenty to win in the upcoming season.
