Can Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga? After a lackluster year the German giant finished third in the German league, having the most losses in a single season in the last 10 years. The German squad had 8 defeats and finished third their worst in almost a decade failing to secure even a single trophy in the calendar year. Evidently for a normal run off the mill squad this wouldn’t be such a big deal, in fact finishing third in the Bundesliga would be considered a great achievement for every club outside of Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Bayern Munich respectively. Outside of having a disappointing domestic campaign with 8 losses and only 72 points compared to Bayer Leverkusen’s 90 point undefeated season, made Bayer invincible the whole year domestically and Bayern losing to the invincible squad 3-0 in February and a tie in September of last year. Not only was Bayern losing but losing to squads they had competition over in the leagues table. But in the European competition the German giant had a great but bittersweet campaign. They had a comfortable group stage finish, winning 5 and drawing 1 game in the phase even enjoying a 4-3 win against Manchester United and winning once again 1-0 to the English legend. The riveting run came down to the semi final of the European Champions League against the best squad in history Real Madrid. Real Madrid has been the best ever team in the Champions League ever, winning 15 cups. Bayern and Real were on equal footing the entire match with Real striking first, then Bayern catching them by surprise with 2 goals and really saving themselves while time dwindles with a penalty. The 2nd leg of the game is the match that summarizes the giant’s season. Alphonso Davies comes on and scores a bender around the keeper. As time winds down to the brink of extra time super sub Joselu scores two goals in rapid succession once in the 88th minute then once again in 90+1 minute securing their ticket to the UCL final against Bayern biggest rival Dortmund beating them comfortably 2 to nil. Bayern star Harry Kane has yet to win a trophy in his career with English side Tottenham and when transferred to Bayern as replacement for club legend Robert “Lewangoalski” Lewandowski for 100 million dollars. This year the German giants look to break the one year curse and look to win their English star Harry Kane his first trophy.
