After Halloween, Dia de Los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, is celebrated. Día de Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday to celebrate those who have passed. Families make ofrendas, which are usually tables with flowers, food, and a picture of their loved ones. Every ofrenda is different because it’s made specifically to celebrate a person’s life. On November 1st, people use this day to pay respects to the kids who have passed. On November 2nd the older people are celebrated. Apart from making the ofrendas, people visit their loved ones’ graves. Sometimes what they would put on the ofrenda is taken to their grave and placed there for the night. Some family members stay late at the cemetery and eat there or even bring music to dance and talk. People may do skeleton face paint on this day to show their participation in the holiday. In many parts of Mexico, Dia de Los Muertos is celebrated many different ways but all are ways to celebrate life.
