Thanksgiving is upon us!

On November 23rd, we officially go on break til December 1st, returning to school on December 2nd.

Some may recall Thanksgiving break used to be two weeks, but it’s always been just one! Some schools in California are only having school off the day of Thanksgiving and the day after, but not LEUSD! We get an entire week off, and many places are hosting events!

In Mexico, there will be parades and festivities, simply to have fun! In Jalisco, there will be a circus and fun park for two weeks, with food and sports playing, even bands! My personal favorite is the bull riders and the Danza de los Voladores, the dance of the fliers. Four men (or women, most commonly men) tie their ankles to a long rope that is suspended on a rotating anchor, and jump off!

They slowly spin downwards for roughly eleven minutes, playing the flute, beating a drum, and chanting, all while upside down and spinning. It is my most favorite event, and I cannot wait for the break to start.
