Right now in the world of football there are exceptional players but none have graced the top like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. In past years like this one a Ballon d’or should have gone to a player like Vinicius Jr. but I even think that his good season was not that great compared to the likes of Messi or Ronaldo or other icons of the game. Last year he boasted a 15 goal campaign alongside 5 assists in 26 games which is undoubtedly good but for me not the iconic Ballon d’or level. Whether I believe he or Rodri should have won is not the point of this article, much rather finding who the best player in the current world is. I believe Mohamed Salah to be the current best player finding success in the best league of the world, the Premier League. So far he’s slotted 13 goals and 8 assists in 14 games. 21 goal contributions in 14 games is UTTERLY UNHEARD OF. Only three players in Europe’s top 5 leagues have over 20 goal contributions in 12 or more games. They are Harry Kane, Omar Marmoush, and Mohamed Salah. I find it to be more impressive for Salah as the other two are in the Bundesliga which although it is a top 5 league it only has so much competition compared to the big 6 of the Premier League plus Nottingham, Aston Villa, Brighton, Newcastle and other teams who have had great success in the past years. It also helps that Liverpool are arguably the best team in the world right now. They are perfect in the UEFA Champions League with 5 Wins 0 losses and top of the PL with 35 points. That is my case for Mohamed Salah being the best player in the world right now.
