On Tuesday, the former featherweight and lightweight champion announced on X that he has made “preliminary agreements” to face Logan Paul in a match in India. He also refuted claims that he is planning a fight with the current UFC featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria. Jake Paul, Logan’s younger sibling, added that McGregor has been “desperately trying to get MVP to negotiate a fight between us.”
McGregor mentioned that any agreement to fight Logan Paul would depend on approval from the UFC and its president, Dana White. It has been over three years since McGregor last competed in a UFC fight, which ended in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Even at that time, his skills appeared to be waning, considering his first-round TKO victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 remains his only win since 2016.
At 36, McGregor is further from his prime, a time when he was among the top pound-for-pound fighters. Plans were underway for the Irish fighter to make a long-anticipated return to the octagon this summer at UFC 303, where he and Michael Chandler were slated to be the main event in Las Vegas.
