Chelsea had been in great form for the beginning of the Premier League. The 5 game winning drought began on Dec. 22 with Chelsea drawing against Everton going 90 mins without a goal between the two sides– Chelsea was the better squad with 75 percent of possession. The next game was against Fulham, a London rival of Chelsea, the game seemed to be going Chelsea’s way and ended up being a nightmare ending. First conceding a late goal in the 82nd minute then once again in stoppage time 90+5′. Then Chelsea get embarrassed at Ipswich Town losing 2-0 against a bottom tier team that had gotten promoted just this season, then having two unimpressive ties against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth. The London side (Chelsea) were vying for no.1 position in the Premier League and due to high pressure from the press and fans they decide to put some of the expectations down and said that they were not competing for the league. Maybe this denial played a part in the winning drought. After all Chelsea are not in the most competitive European prix as they are in the European Conference League and have a secondary squad that is lead by Christopher Nkunku a star that hasn’t had a lot of time in the Prem. They should have made the decision to promise everything to get a Premier League title as getting a UECL is not a bad thing but no real competition makes it a must win for Chelsea if they are to not be crucified by the media and fans, but the Prem is something that they are capable of doing.
