Leap year is when an extra day is added to the month of February. This only happens every four years to February because it is already the shortest month. This happens because the earth needs more time to orbit the sun. It’s close but it needs extra to be added for the rotation to be completed. Leap years are important because without them our seasons would be messed up. Leap years help keep the seasons on a calendar in sync with the Earth. They allow seasonal activities and gardening to continue the way they were meant to. The next leap year time will be in 2028 where the earth will complete another full rotation around the sun.
