In 2025, Starbucks brought back a policy where baristas write short messages or draw pictures on customers’ cups. The goal is to make the coffee shop experience feel more personal and friendly. This is part of a bigger plan to bring back the cozy, welcoming vibe Starbucks was known for. Some customers enjoy the kind messages, but others worry it could slow down service during busy times. Some baristas have also said it adds extra pressure to their jobs. To help, Starbucks gave out thousands of Sharpie pens and added more staff hours. Along with this, they are also bringing back ceramic mugs for people who stay in the store and self-serve stations for things like milk and sugar. I personally love this. I love getting my drink and having a sweet message on it or a cute drawing. I got a cherry chai and they drew a cherry on the cup it was adorable.
