Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun with giant rings around it. It is also the 2nd largest in our solar system. Saturn is a gas giant and is mainly made up of hydrogen and helium. It has a dense core made up of iron and nickel. Its rings are made up of countless icy particles and rock, ranging in size from small grains of sand to large boulders. Scientists believe that the rings to were formed from bits of asteroids and comets that shattered before reaching the planet. Saturn has 82 confirmed moons and the largest moon is bigger than Mercury.
