After a road rage shooting in 2021, Stacey Wales made a statement due to her brother’s death, who was killed, to inform victim impact. Stacey decided that her own words wouldn’t be enough and allowed her brother to state his mind, via AI. He expressed forgiveness, which she felt she wasn’t ready to have done, but knew her brother would’ve. The AI expressed anger and forgiveness for the family, and was accepted by the family on his behalf. This is seen to be one of the first uses of AI of this way in the courtroom.
