The British Airways Concorde was the fastest airplane to ever carry passengers commercially, completing international flights in record speeds. One of its fastest flights was a trip from London to New York in only two hours and fifty-two minutes, a flight that typically takes over seven hours for conventional planes today. It was so fast that it broke sound barriers! The Concorde was a technological phenomenon even by today’s standards, but unfortunately, it couldn’t progress any further than the 2000’s; after a catastrophic crash occurred and killed 103 passengers on July 25th, 2000, people lost trust in the aircraft. The fleet was consequently suspended due to a decline in commercial success. Today, 18 of the 20 Concorde planes ever built remain on display in North America and Europe.
