The M1128 is a MGS (mobile gun system) which essentially means a big cannon on a fast chassis with limited armor. It has a 105 mm cannon capable of firing a round every 6 seconds with an autoloader and unmanned turret. It goes up to 60 MPH on roads and has 365 hp with its Caterpillar C7 turbo diesel engine. This MGS entered service in 2008 and saw conflict in both Afghanistan and Iraq. While the M1128 is a beautiful looking vehicle it was ultimately retired in 2020 because of reliability issues and weight. The autoloader was too expensive to maintain and often broke down in combat. The uses of this vehicle were also very limited with little armor it could not engage other tanks and with few rounds and reliability issues it was not good for long operations. While it was not very effective in actual combat I still love the design and look of this late 2000’s MGS system.
