JROTC

More to it Than Meets the Eyes
JROTC

JROTC at our school consists of four (4) levels of seniority: Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. 10% of former JROTC students actually continue on into the the military. The students are required to learn archery, and they have a dedicated room for it, and their room is open at lunch to everyone. The JROTC shop is open on Wednesday before school only, with all funds returning to purchase equipment for the program and the cadets. Major Ruhl keeps the cadets in line, along with Chief Shaw. The students are very respectful in the class and are expected to act professionally outside of class. If you were wondering, the people in charge do sometimes yell in the cadets’ faces. They are referred to by their last names to mimic the army’s style. They act as though they are a family and everyone gets along for the most part.

Standards have to be met in JROTC, like being properly groomed, and foul language is not tolerated (from accidental experience), and actions out and inside of class count. Showing PDA (public display of affection) have to be kept minimal when out and about in uniform. So be sure to restrain yourself and don’t distract the cadets!

Even if you can’t see it, the cadets are very clean! Before class is over, they divide work and vacuum the carpets, wipe down desks, and align chairs and desks in the class. It’s something that should be implemented in every class, but we can start small, and the biggest class to help is JROTC, even if they prefer coffee over tea.

That’s all for this week Tigers! /\__/\ 🐘
