When walking to the bus stop in the morning, you are expected to get there on time. Recently, many buses have been picking up students ten to twenty minutes later than the posted times. Not only are students getting to school late, but many teachers are not understanding of the situation and telling students they should not be “making excuses” for their tardiness. At my bus stop, the bus is meant to be there at 7:45AM, but always, without fail, is not there until around 8AM. Due to this, many students have started to arrive at the bus stop a bit later so that they are not just standing outside, and when this happens, the bus just so happens to get there on time. There have been multiple bus drivers that have yelled at students for being late ONE time, although they are late almost every day. This behavior is unfair; if the buses are going to be behind schedule on the regular, the drivers should not be able to preach about being on time and responsible if they cannot achieve that on their end. Now, I understand that the buses have a schedule and sometimes things might go wrong, but being late everyday is not acceptable. If this has been an ongoing issue for multiple years now, the routes could be reassigned or the earlier stops could be scheduled for an earlier pickup time so that all students are getting to school on time.
