Did you know that Waffle House has their own weather index that determines the severity of hurricanes and tornados? In the South, where a majority of Waffle Houses are located, tornados are a common occurrence. This is mainly due to the open plains and warm weather. But apparently, the company invests in their own weather trucks to determine whether or not to stay open during natural disasters. Typically they don’t close, even during tornado warnings or bad storms. But lately the restaurants have started closing due to the huge storm surging through Houston.
