Is a Penguin a Good Pet?

Is a Penguin a Good Pet?

If you’re anything like me then you have probably wondered what it would be like to have some crazy animals as pets. I have recently done some research on what goes into owning a penguin and if they would even be good pets. Now, owning a penguin is very very expensive, so money aside, here are some things that go into having a penguin as a pet. Penguins are very sociable animals and can even sense when you are sick, like cats and dogs. Penguins are also very smart and tend to be very entertaining. Since penguins are very social, they need to be kept with at least one other penguin, so have room in your heart for at least two penguins. Penguins, however, are illegal to own in the United States and some other countries so you would need to move somewhere it is legal to own them. Their diet consists of fish, squid, and krill, which isn’t very expensive depending on the sourcing of them. A penguin tends to eat about five to six pounds of food a day so they are very hungry animals. So in the end, penguins would make great pets if you had the money to house them (almost a million dollars to build a USDA approved enclosure) and lived in the right area.
