As a lot of you may know, the groundhog Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring on February 2nd,which is new compared to the extended winter we got last year. But now that I think about it, is a groundhog’s shadow even an accurate way to predict the weather of the next weeks or months? Especially considering the cold winds we had today mixed in with the overall cold weather in general. I feel like the direction of the sun is what dictates a groundhog’s shadow more then the winter. Doing more research, it turns out that Punxsutawney Phil is only accurate around 39% of the time. Not even at least a 50%. Maybe it’s just the cold weather making it seem like Groundhog Day is a ridiculous holiday, but then again we also have national pie day so at least it’s on theme with being odd.
