The “Brainrot” Epidemic

The “Brainrot” Epidemic

If you have younger children or been on TikTok lately, you would see a strange rise in new words like “sigma” or “rizz.” Many teens have labeled this as a form of “brainrot” which is where the content being posted online is so idiotic and nonsensical that kids’ brains have literally turned to mush. Ok not quite literally but many people have expressed concerns about the amount of stupidity online being exposed to kids, especially to those of gen alpha, who seem to be the ones who developed the “brainrot” vocabulary and therefore use it on a daily basis. In my opinion, it does get quite annoying. Especially coming from small children that tend to have not developed any sort of social awareness and just make it everyone’s problem. But honestly, as long as it’s all harmless fun, there really is no problem with it.
