In education, cramming is the practice of working intensively to absorb large volumes of information in short amounts of time. It is also known as massed learning.

As a student, cramming is the type of thing I do usually when preparing for tests, quizzes, or exams. Cramming is when you just started studying for something important, just before it starts. Cramming is looked down upon because usually intaking a lot of information quickly does not really help you all that much, of course notes will not just be absorbed right then and there, so you can guess by the analogy that it really sucks. Even so, many students including me cram just before tests or quizzes, only because we did not prepare the right way.
Take this as a warning, because cramming really sucks, so follow your teacher and just study the right way.
