Dandy’s World is a video game I’ve been into for… basically a year now! It has been wild, with them releasing new characters who change gameplay while having a character for everyone. So, what is up with the game?
The atmosphere is really charming, giving that feel of an old education center. Even if the floors are slowly changing due to time being set inside them, they show how everything used to run.
The characters, called toons, are also extremely fun to play. They have specific stats that give them weaknesses and strengths, alongside one or two abilities if they fall into the “main character” catagory. Their designs are unique, as an example take Squirm, who is a bookworm!
But, those stats and abilities can create monsters of a toon. For example, Gourdy, the Halloween main, has an overpowered strength in extraction. In combination with his four star movement speed, he is an unstoppable extractor in solo or group runs. Yatta is another example, being considered stronger than the extractor main, Vee, when she was released.
The gameplay also feels very repetitive, since all you do is complete machines on floors while avoiding the enemies, known as twisteds. Occasionally, you get a special floor, like a blackout or ichor leak, but they work on a percentage system randomly. Sometimes you may not even get a blackout or ichor leak in a run!
Balancing is weird and unfair on occasion and the game may get repetitive, but it really is amazing with designing and character personality, alongside the atmosphere overall.
