Cinnamoroll is a fictional character created by the Japanese entertainment company Sanrio in 2001. Cinnamoroll is a small male dog with fluffy white fur, huge ears, and blue eyes. His cheeks are a bright pink and his tail is curly, resembling a cinnamon roll and serving as the inspiration for his name. Cinnamoroll’s inspiration was from one of the Sanrio designers named Miyuki Okumura, who one day looked up at the sky and noticed a fluffy cloud that resembled a cinnamon roll. The original design for the character was a rabbit, but it was later changed to be a big-eared dog.
Sanrio has created over 450 characters, but Cinnamoroll remains one of the most popular to date, even though it debuted nearly 22 years ago. Cinnamoroll is one of Sanrio’s most popular characters because of his unique peaceful nature and appearance. He has become a fan favorite, just like another famous Sanrio character, Kuromi. He was voted the most popular Sanrio character from 2020 to 2024.
Besides his story, Cinnamoroll has been a significant commercial success. He features in a wide range of merchandise, including stuff like notebooks, plush toys, clothes, and accessories. His cute design makes him a favorite for children and young adults, but lots of adults love him too because they enjoy the comfort and joy in the kawaii (cute) culture of Japan.
