I didn’t plan on becoming a nail tech. It started really small—just me, a couple of cheap polishes, and a few friends who trusted me enough to let me practice on them. I remember doing sets at the kitchen table, trying to get my lines straight and hoping no one looked too closely at my early attempts.
Eventually, I cleared a little space at home and turned it into my own tiny studio. Nothing fancy—just a desk, a lamp, and a shelf I was way too proud of. But it felt right. It felt like me.
Starting from home was honestly scary. You’re not sure if people will take you seriously, or if they’ll even show up. But they did. Slowly at first, then more and more. And each client who walked through my door made me feel like I was actually building something real.
One thing I love about being a home-based tech is how personal it is. Clients come in, we talk, we laugh, sometimes we vent, and for a little while it’s just a calm space where life slows down. It never feels rushed or chaotic. Just real.
