The Leopard 2 is a multigenerational MBT. Germany first used the Leopard 1 all the way back in 1965 and the upgraded Leopard 2 began production in 1979. Since it started production the Leopard 2 has been given many upgrades and has many different variations operating in many different countries. The Leopard 2A0-A3 were all very similar and were used as the base for the most common variant the Leopard 2A4. The 2A4 is one of the most used tanks around the world with upgraded versions used in many different countries throughout Europe Asia, and Canada. The Leopard mixes speed, firepower, and armor with extreme expertise. Thick armor with a large 12 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and a 120mm smoothbore cannon make for a deadly combo, capable of speeds up to 45 MPH forward and 19 MPH in reverse and an APFSDS round with, depending on the round, 300-500 mm of armor penetration. For an older model of tank this is a really good all-rounder. There are even more upgraded models such as the Leopard 2A6,7, and 8 but those deserve another story.
