Right after World War 2, a new conflict emerged that would span 30 years, from 1946 to 1990. The United States of America would be in a feud between the USSR and known as the Soviet Union. This conflict was not fought directly with firearms, tanks, planes, or any kind of weapon; it was instead fought with intelligence and power as it was the battle between capitalism and communism. Communism is a political and economic ideology that America was not a fan of Communism as it was centered on creating a classless stateless society based on common ownership of the means of production and it was faulty overall. During the Cold War there were two wars that America and the Soviet Union were supporting different sides on. During the Korean War America supported South Korea but the Soviet Union supported North Korea and during the Vietnam war America supported southern Vietnam but the Soviet Union supported northern Vietnam. As tensions grew between both America and the Soviet Union there would be a major event that happens which was the space race in which both countries would compete to see who reaches the moon first and America won the space race.
