The Vietnam War was a fought fought primarily between the United Sates and southern Vietnam against the Soviet Union and northern Vietnam from November first nineteen fifty-five to April thirtirth nineteen seventy-five and shockingly the United States lost against northern Vietnam. How could a powerful country like the United Sates lose to Viet Cong forces? Well, the Viet Cong used guerilla warfare against the U.S in which they used speed, surprise, and mobility against them. Since the United States army was way larger, the terrain the Viet Cong were in gave them a huge advantage as well since American soldiers were not really used to fighting in jungles and were very prone to stealth attacks, and the Viet Cong also used tunnels along with booby traps that were efficiently hidden and mostly hard to detect. Overall the United States lost to northern Viet Cong forces because the Viet Cong’s way of fighting was better and smarter, so the aftermath of the Vietnam war led to the United States losing, and the country of Vietnam being unified as a communist country.
