The Doors are an American psychedelic and blues rock band that formed in Venice Beach, California all the way back in 1965 with the band members being Jim Morrison as the vocalist, Ray Manzarek as keyboardist, Robby Krieger as guitarist, and John Densmore as drummer. They would release their debut album self titled “The Doors” that came out on January fourth, nineteen sixty seven and peaked at number 2 on the billboard two hundred and spending over 100 weeks on the chart. The number one hit song on the album was “Light My Fire” which helped the album go quadruple platinum and sold over thirteen to twenty million copies worldwide. On September seventeenth nineteen sixty seven The Doors appeared on the Ed Sullivan show to play the song “Light My Fire” but Ed Sullivan wanted vocalist Jim Morrison to change the lyric “Girl we couldn’t get much higher” to “Girl we couldn’t get much better” to make it less controversial but Jim did not listen and he rebelled by singing the original lyric which caused him alongside the other members of The Doors to be banned from ever performing on The Ed Sullivan show ever again. they would go on to then make eight more albums and still stand as an iconic American rock band.
