Gallus gallus domesticus, or chicken, is a domesticated form of the Red Junglefowl (Gallus gallus). Domestication happened around 8,000 years ago, and now it is one of the most common domesticated animals. Chicken are commonly kept as poultry or for their eggs, but people may keep them as pets.
Instead of water, chickens take baths with dust! It helps manage oil in their feathers and removes parasites. With these feathers, they can fly short distances. Chickens usually stay on the ground compared to flying though.
Chickens can lay eggs in a variety of colors depending on the breed! The shades of the eggs include white, brown, blue, green, and pink.
